With the holiday's right around the corner and plans starting to pile in we’re here to help you tackle it with ease.
The holiday’s are a beautiful time that allows us to slow down, get some well deserved rest and catch up with the ones we love the most. At the same time it can be busy, stressful and a little bit chaotic. If you are anything like me you are the member of your family or friend group who is known for being the host. Let’s face it, we love to do it but that doesn’t mean it is easy. In today's blog I'm going to give you some tips that have helped me master being the best host feasible.
Step 1: Start Early
There is no harm in being as prepared as possible. Being stressed and having to knock out a bunch of tasks at the last minute adds a lot of stress and makes you question why we are hosting in the first place. Always give yourself 20% more time than you actually think you’ll need. With hosting and having many things on your to do list it’s practical to start a day or two before. That way when the day finally comes you’ll have little if not anything left to do.
Step 2: Ask For Help!
You do not need to do all of this on your own. I can’t stress this part enough! Doing everything on your own can leave you feeling exhausted and burnt out. Step 2 has helped me through and through everytime. When someone offers to help, allow them too. There is absolutely no shame in needing a helping hand and it often brings people closer together.
Step 3: Ambiance
When in doubt bring the candles out! I am a sucker for scents - having a good scent going will leave the night memorable. I can list off the places I’ve been to where the scent was aromatic and I’ve wanted to return just for that. Let’s not forget about lighting. We all know what doctors' rooms look like and try to stay as far away from that as possible. If you are hosting outside take advantage of that with twinkle lights streamed across your backyard. Get a nice fire going or if you’re anything like me amazon prime an outdoor patio heater. Bring out a speaker for some background music that will match your vibe effortlessly. The little things here and there will make a huge difference and take your hosting to that next level.
Lastly, stay true to yourself! Host the night how you want to do it. Whether it is a small gathering around your dining room table or a big extravagant outdoor party if you keep the experience unique to you there’s no way you won't enjoy every part of the process. Goodluck and don’t forget to have fun!
